Money was meant for transfers, postings of officials! | Illegal cash transaction allegations | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 7: As the BJP high command is reported to have taken serious note of developments in JK with regard to illegal cash transactions allegedly carried out by senior ministers, some revelations in the matter have further substantiated the allegations which are being scrutinized by the central leadership. Cash transactions were meant for plum postings and transfers of the senior officials that were to be decided in the first cabinet meeting in winter secretariat after reopening of Durbar last month. Sources said while allegations and rumours about heavy purchases of gold and land investments have been making round post demonetization move on November 8, there is more to it as some ministers are learnt to have indulged in heavy amount transactions from senior officials of the state. This cash transaction in fact took place much before demonetization decision of the government as a matter of routine and was allegedly meant for postings on choicest places, sources said. Sources said the officials who had given heavy amounts reportedly to the ministers included not only some bureaucrats but also senior police officers besides a good number of engineers on key posts. Since their postings and transfers had become due and were expected anytime now, they greased the palms ahead of the cabinet meet, sources said. However, the demonetization move on November disturbed the whole 'strategy' of all those engaged in the cash transaction, sources said adding that the problem arose more for those who had taken the cash. Since these were the heavy amount deals, the money had become a burden with the quarters that had acted as a 'conduit' for the transactions and upon instant instructions from the 'bosses' they wanted the officials to take back the money and return with new currency , sources said. However, in the process of reversal of cash transaction, information got leaked through some persons that is why the vehicle was intercepted by the Police, sources said. While the high command has taken strong notice of all these allegations, sources said at least three senior ministers of the party are under scanner for having taken the cash from the officials for effecting transfers and postings at their choicest places. |
