Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 7: It has been more than five months since Government accorded promotion to six IPS officers from DIGs to IGPs, but still awaiting the orders of their adjustment, these officers continue to work on positions they held as DIGs.
According to Government Order No.443-Home of 2016 dated dated: 29.07.2016 six police officers, DIG Viplav Kumar Choudhary, Garib Dass, Vijay Kumar, Surinder Kumar Gupta, Johny William and Syed Ahfadul Mujtaba were promoted as IGPs.
"While Viplav Kumar Choudhry is undergoing LLM at London since September 2016, Garib Dass is on Deputation to Government of India since March 2016; Vijay Kumar is also on deputation to CRPF since January 2015", sources said, and added that remaining three officer are working at their previous posting they held as DIGs.
Presently Surinder Kumar Gupta is holding charge of Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhmapur-Reasi range. While Johny William is holding charge of DIG Rajouri-Poonch range.
Ahfadul Mujtaba, Director SSG J&K, an IPS officer of 1998 batch also continues to hold same post.
"Lack of planning and anticipation in department, is humiliating us, as despite being promoted to next rank, we are still holding same posts", said one of the officers awaiting adjustment.
"The department has put our further posting hold on pretext of shortage of DIGs, contrary to fact that the department has sufficient numbers of DIGs who are on deputation, instead of calling them back we are being discriminated", the officer said.
"A section of KPS officers that has surrendered before IPS has hatched the conspiracy to humiliate us", alleged one the officers and added that trio who are waiting their further adjustment are KPS, number 39, 40 and 41 in gradation list of IPS cadre.
