JAMMU, Dec 19: The famous phrase 'One step forward, two steps back' aptly fits on Jammu and Kashmir Department of Health and Medical Education (H&ME) as on one hand projects worth cores are coming up, on the other, it has failed to address shortcomings within the system .
Despite pointing out the shortcomings by inspection team repeatedly, the H&ME department and the administration of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) and Hospital Jammu, have failed to redress them so far affecting future of medical students.
Sources within IGGDC Jammu told Early Times that the inspection of the College was supposed to be held October this year but it was cancelled as the Principal had to attend a meeting in Srinagar.
Now last Wednesday, the six member expert Team visited IGGDC Jammu to review the progress, but some of faculty members were absent, which offended the team.
"During inspection, the team members found that the administration of the College had not purchased latest Journals for students and faculty members for last nearly three years" Sources stated, adding that due to unavailability of latest journals, teaching faculty has failed to educate students about latest techniques in the Country as well as World.
Sources further said that the team also found that there was not internet or WIFI facility for the students in the College.
When contacted Directorate of College Development Council Jai Kumar Sharma said administration has improved certain things but there are some shortcomings which need to be overcome as soon as possible. |
