Cricket team selectors wants his son in team, who missed trials | Sports employee threatens U-17 boys' | | Early Times Report jammu, Dec 19: An employee of Youth and Sports department has reportedly threatened an official of Selecting Committee, constituted for selection of Under-17 Boys' cricket team for Inter-divisional State level competition. Sources informed Early Times that the employee had been seeking inclusion of his son in the team, who was absent in the trials held on 14th and 15th December. "His son was playing a tournament of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association being held in Haryana at the time of trials", sources said, adding that a conspiracy was hatched by the employee, in connivance with some selectors, who has assured to include the son of employee in the Under-17 cricket team. Some players got the air of conspiracy and when the team was being finalized, objections were raised against the attempts to include the name of the employee's son, sources said, adding that the conspiracy unfolded, due to the exclusion of a top scorer of trial matches, from the team. Sources informed that when some of the senior members of the Committee came to know about the issue, they raised objections and took firm stand for inclusion of deserving candidates. Finally they decided to drop the name of employee's son and included the name of top scorer in the Under-17 cricket team. "When the employee of the department came to know about the matter he threatened the selectors and some higher officials, who objected to the inclusion of absent player", sources said, adding that infuriated over the exclusion of his son, the employee reportedly threatened the team of selectors to be ready for consequences, as he allegedly holds close allegiance to corridors of power. |
