| Youth Congress leader encroaches state land | | Raises building, installs petrol pump | |

Jammu, Dec 19: A Youth Congress leader has been found involved in encroachment of Irrigation department's land in Akhnoor area . The leader has installed a Petrol Pump on the land and also raised a building which is at present given to State Bank of India on rent basis.
The Crime Branch has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the Youth Congress leader under sections 420/467/471/120 of RPC. Moreover the Crime Branch has also found the involvement of Revenue department and Irrigation department officials in the encroachment of land. As per the copy of FIR registered against Youth Congress leader Manjeet Singh Jatt, it has been mentioned that Aman Choudhary son of Darshan Choudhary resident of Talab Tillo Jammu had lodged a written complaint in Crime Branch Jammu, wherein he had alleged that Manjeet Singh and his father Swaran Singh resident of Jourian, tehsil Akhnoor Jammu had constructed a huge building which they have given to State Bank of India on rent and also installed a petrol pump on the said land situated at D6-A Canal of Irrigation department, which was encroached with the connivance of the Revenue and Irrigation department.
"On the receipt of complaint a preliminary verification was initiated in Crime Branch Jammu office and during the course of verification it was found that the accused persons had encroached upon a considerable portion of the state land belonging to the Irrigation department and had constructed a building on the same which has been rented out to the State Bank of India Branch Jourian and have also installed a petrol pump of HPCL", it reads.
The FIR further reads, "It was also found that Tehsildar Irrigation department Akhnoor, AEE Canal Office New Pratap Canal Sub Division Akhnoor beside other in further evidence of criminal conspiracy with Manjeet Singh and Suram Singh facilitated the encroachment of the said land and in further misuse of official position and even issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) in their favour in order to get wrongful gains to themselves and on the part of Manjeet Singh son of Suram Singh of Jourian, Akhnoor."
The concluding paragraph reads as, "The then Tehsildar Irrigation department Akhnoor, the then Assistant Executive Engineer Canal Oficer Pratap Canal sub division and the then Executive Engineer Division Akhnoor prima facie constitute offences under section 420/467/471/120 of RPC."
Talking to Early Times, Aman Choudhary said that they had filed a bundle of RTI applications and sought replies, in which it was found that state land was encroached. "We had submitted the same RTI replies to Crime Branch which on their own behalf investigate the case and found their involvement", he said.
Reacting to allegations YC leader Manjeet Singh Jatt termed the allegations merely a political conspiracy only to defame him. "It is totally a fake case. We are refugees and the land was registered on our name as per Section-3 and there was not any issue of encroachment", he said, adding that whenever anyone raise any boundary wall adjoining to road, some of the land of road might come under his possession. "In case if any inch of land will be under possession of anyone, whenever the road widening process will be taken place same will be retrieved by department from all", he said. He further said that it was a political conspiracy to malign his political image and he would soon file a case in High Court of Jammu, against the complainant and the officials involved in this entire episode. |
