jammu, Dec 19: Winter capital has been plagued by protests by various sections of government employees and it is an open secret that several retired Government employees who achieved superannuation long back are organizing anti-government protests and provoking serving employees to take to the path of agitation to remain in media limelight and further their own vested interests.
Government employees of several departments have their grievances against the Government ranging from pay anomalies to regularization and stagnation to promotions, which are long pending before the authorities, but lack of accountability and deliverance of justice and complete failure of the complaint redressal system gives a chance to these retired employees to mislead the serving employees and instigate them to take to path of agitation.
"More than five years since he retired from the PHE department, this trade union leader continues to lead the employees and organize protests and dharnas" said an employee of the department, adding that he had raised huge fortunes by befooling gullible employees. "He was kingpin of transfer mafia not only in his own department, but in other departments too and he flouted his proximity with the Ministers to trap the employees. He still befools employees and prompts them into dharnas and protests to arm twist the senior officers and even the political leadership" he added.
There are several others, who have openly been prompting employees to the path of agitation and protest and the administration has closed its eyes to their misdoings. "Another retired government employees who led a group of employees while in service is actively involved in organizing anti-government protests. He instigates employees working in public offices to shun work and squat on dharnas causing huge inconvenience to the people in general" said Surinder Singh, also a retired employee. "What interest does he have in leading employees' organizations when he is no more a government employee?" he questioned. "Administration should identify these people and book them for instigating government employees" he added.
These self- styled leaders are part of the transfer mafia within government departments and they trap innocent employees on the pretexts of helping in getting suitable postings and other service related issues. They hobnob with the Ministers and political workers to give an impression to the gullible employees that they enjoyed close proximity to those in power and at the same time, they convey their nuisance value to the Ministers and bureaucrats by pretending that enjoyed support of a large number of employees.
