Two held, 20 Kgs of poppy straw, 20 gram charas seized 12/19/2016 10:31:01 PM Early Times Report Udhampur, Dec 19: Continuing its offensive against inter state inter district drug peddlers smugglers indulged in illegal trade of drugs, Udhampur police today arrested two persons alongwith seizure of 20 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki), 20 gram charas, 18 kgs of powdered cannabis in two separate cases. Police spokesperson said, "At about 1630 hrs, during the naka checking of vehicles by Police party today intercepted a truck bearing Regd NoHR55-M9168. "During thorough checking of the truck, Police party seized 20 Kgs of Poppy Straw (Bhuki) concealed inside the Tanker, police said and added that accused identified namely Satinter Singh son of Naginder Singh of Lama Pind Jalandhar was arrested on the spot and vehicle was seized. Police said, "The accused was transporting the contraband from Kashmir Valley towards Punjab for its illegally sale to the Punjab." In this connection, a case FIR No. 418/2016 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Udhampur against the accused person and further investigation of the case is going on. In a similar case, based on a some reliable information, a police team of Police Station Udhampur at about 1500 hrs while checking of one suspicious recovered 20 gram Charas and 18 kgs Bhang Powder from his possession which he used to prepare charas. The said accused identified as Charan Dass son of Paras Ram of W-12 Ramnagar A/P Bharat Nagar Udhampur was arrested on the spot.
