SPCB conducts surprise checks, seizes 35 kgs of polythene | | | Early Times Report Ramban, Dec 23: A joint team comprising State Pollution Control Broad (SPCB), Ramban led by Kuldeep Bhan, Forest Protection Force and others departments conducted a day-long drive/sensitisation against use of polythene in Patnitop and its surrounding areas. According official spokesperson, during the surprise checks, 35Kg of polythene was seized and a penalty of Rs2900 was imposed on the offenders. The team during the drive also sensitized the hoteliers, cafeterias, shopkeepers, drivers and public on the ill-effects of using polythene and littering the environment with it. A large number of tourists visiting the area appreciated the efforts of the team. The team also served warning to some hoteliers, who had been routinely throwing garbage including polythene directly into the sewage drains and asked them to maintain cleanliness in their areas. The team also checked truckers carrying muck and building material. |
