Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 23: The SHO of a police station in South Jammu is alleged to be demanding Rs 1 lakh from a man to release his car that has been seizd by him. The man had purchased the car from a car bazaar in the city against a cheque. After the cheque bounced, the car bazaar owner, instead of moving to court, approached the SHO who is said to be quite thick with him. "The car bazaar owner has promised to give good commission to the SHO as and when he succeeds in taking payment from the car buyer," police sources alleged, saying the SHO had seized the car and kept it at the police station without registering any case in this connection. "He has demanded Rs 1 lakh for releasing the car and has even threatened to book him in a fake case if he fails to pay him the bribe amount. He is also pressurising him to make payment of car to the car bazaar owner at the earliest," sources alleged. The car was at the police station for the past three days. Sources said its buyer had been given some time by the SHO to arrange the money. |
