Central leadership annoyed with party Ministers' stand in CSC meet
12/23/2016 11:46:11 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 23: Union Government has taken serious note of the stand taken by BJP's representatives in the Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) on re-structuring of Jammu and Kashmir Police cadre (Kashmir Police Services). Union Government as well as Central leadership of BJP is not happy over the way BJP ministers in J&K coalition are submitting before the PDP just for power.
Credible sources said that Union Government has made it very clear to the state unit of BJP that there was no question of setting up new precedent in J&K on the appointment of DIG and IGPs. It is set procedure in the whole country that only IPS officers be appointed on the posts from DIG to the higher level.
Credible sources said that BJP high-command had made it clear to the state unit that there was no reason to mellow down stand on this issue which is directly related to the security of the country. It was all due to this clear directions from the high command that BJP ministers had taken a tough stand, forced Chief Minister to leave her cabinet meeting midway.
Credible sources said that due to pressure from different quarters, especially from power brokers and business lobbies, BJP ministers in the coalition have decided to violate high command's directions to remain in power. As reported earlier, family members of BJP ministers, who are first time in their lives enjoying power, have also warned them (BJP ministers) against taking confrontation with PDP to put government in danger.
Credible sources said that BJP's representatives in the CSC were given directions by local leaders including senior ministers that there was no reason to argue with PDP's representatives on IPS/KAS.
The CSC comprising six senior Cabinet Ministers-three each from PDP and BJP, the two ruling coalition partners, who were at the loggerheads over posting of KPS officers as DIGs and higher posts without their induction into IPS, were moving close to the consensus and four posts could be identified as ex-cadre posts for posting of non-IPS officers as DIGs.
The CSC members headed by Industries and Commerce Minister Chander Prakash Ganga comprised Forests Minister Lal Singh and Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat (all from BJP), Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu, Education Minister Naeem Akhter and FCS & CA Minister Zulfkar Choudhary (all from PDP).
