K Koushal Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 23: The mistake on the part of school management in picking up right bundle of examination papers from police custody forced students to take wrong paper, thus causing panic among them. According to sources, the management at Girls High School Khour committed a mistake by picking wrong bundle of question papers, but did not inform the higher ups of the same. "This is sheer case of dereliction, wherein school management of Girls High School Khour during 10th class examination of State Open School (SOS) Chack Mallal on December 19, instead of picking bundle of 90 papers of social Science, picked bundle of 60 papers," said sources, adding that the papers were lifted from the concerned police station without the signatures of the supervisor. Sources said that the superintendent of the examinations was supposed to reach the school before 10 am, but he had not received any official confirmation, so he had requested the head master of the SOS school to issue an authority letter in his favour, mentioning that school has no objection with his deployment as superintendent. "The head master agreed, and the supervisor of the examination at 10:15 am visited the SOS Chack Mallal to pick the authority letter in his favour and reached back at Girls High School Khour at around 10:45 am, said sources. When it came to lift papers from the concerned police station, the supervisor took wrong bundle of the question papers which is scheduled to held on January 7, 2017," said sources, adding that the bundle of papers which wrongly taken was of Social studies subject but it was for general students of bi-annual . "Before opening the wrapper, the superintendent failed to put signatures of the supervisory staff and when the papers were distributed in the examination hall, the management felt shortage of over 30 papers," said sources, adding that they called the Board authorities and complained that the number of papers was less than the required. "The Board was also confused with the complaint and urged the school authorities to Photostat for rest of the students," said sources, adding that meanwhile, in the middle of the examination, the school management realized that they have picked wrong bundle. However, the board also cross checked the matter on its part and informed the school management that they have picked the wrong parcel. "On board's instructions, the school staff went to police station to re check the papers, wherein they found that they are at fault," said sources, adding that but instead of informing the board authorities the school management and police preferred to keep it a secret. The paper was supposed to be held on 7 January for bi-annual students of Jammu province, but the students of SOS were forced to take it on December 19. Joint Secretary Exam, JK BOSE admitted the fault and said that they have initiated the process for cancellation of the bi-annual exam. Sources further alleged that the mistake of the staff caused huge financial loss to the Jammu and Kashmir Board of school Education. Pertinently, on December 13, some miscreants had stole question papers from school near police station and BOSE cancelled exams for entire province If sources are to be believed this theft has caused loss of over approximately Rs 20 lakh to the department, as due to cancellation of papers, the stationary cost has to be borne by the department. |
