Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 23: A retired Deputy Inspector General Police (DyIG) has allegedly encroached upon recently vacated state land here by placing tents and bathrooms for his security guards. Well placed sources informed Early Times that in attempt to mislead revenue department and other government agencies, the retired officer has erected a sign board which reads proposed "Land for Community Hall". Meanwhile, sources said that a complaint regarding encroachment of JDA/Nazool land under (Khasra number 124) in Jammu city is pending before State Vigilance Commission. "The SVC has directed JDA to furnish action taken report before the Commission through the Director Land Management in state land encroachment case", sources said and added that during the course of demarcation 2 kanal, out of 24 kanal encroached land was vacated, but it was very short lived action against the land grabbers. They said that since the case is pending before SIC, using his connections in police and civil administration, the retired police officer, recently placed tent and concertina wire around the vacated plot. They alleged that the Ex-DIG's house is also on same title land located nearby. "He has registry of 1 kanal 4 marla of khasra number 125, but actually, he has possession on khasra number 124, i.e. state land (JDA/Nazool)", they added. In the complaint it was alleged that encroachments over State Land (Khasra No 124) measuring about 26 kanals and 3 marlas (over 3 Acres) by some land mafia with the alleged support of the Revenue Department. Sources said that the report furnished by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu, prima-facie revealed that land (Khasra No 124 measuring) about 26 kanals 3 marlas is State Land. "Out of which 25 kanals and 15 marlas is recorded in the name of Nazool and Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and 9 marlas in the name of Housing Department", sources said. They further said that on spot 23 kanals out of 24 kanals and 14 marlas has been encroached by the land grabbers. |
