JAMMU, Dec 23: Shrimati Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies (SSGCWS) and Centre for Human Rights, MIER College of Education commemorated Human Rights Day by organizing an impressive program at MIER. The program was organized to felicitate and award certificates to the fourth batch of students who have successfully completed the UGC sponsored Course on Human Rights and Values. Dr Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER, was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Renu Gupta Principal MIER, Dr Adit Gupta Joint Director MIER, Dr N.R Sharma Dean Academics MIER, Heads of different wings of MIER were among the other dignitaries present on the occasion . The college has been successfully conducting a three months certificate course on Human Rights and Values under the sponsorship of University Grants Commission. At the beginning of the program, Dr Annie Koul HoD B.Ed formally welcomed the chief guest, the outgoing batch and the audience. Monika Rathore coordinator CWS shared information about the course and said that Human rights education is the need of the hour and this course provides an insight into building a coercive, democratic, and tolerant society. In his presidential address Dr Arun K. Gupta Chairman MIER complimented the entire team responsible for conducting of the course. Dr Gupta said that it is important that the youth must voice their concern against human rights violations. Youth is the biggest agent of change in our society so they must come forward to understand various human rights concerns and help develop the righteous approach in maintaining dignity and honor in the society. Dr Rohinika Sharma Head of Department B.Ed Special formally presented the Vote of Thanks. The program was conducted by Ragini, a B.Ed student. |
