Srinagar, Nov 20: Call it fate or coincidence, but at a time when south Kashmir is traditionally seen as Peoples Democratic Party stronghold, faces from Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts dominate key posts in the corridors of power in the PDP-led government.
From Chairman Public Service Commission to Chairman Board of Professional Entrance Examinations to Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura, many of key chairs are with the people hailing from south Kashmir. At least six of the 10 DCs in the Valley are also from the south.
Officials said PSC Chairman Latief uz Zaman Deva is from Anantnag and Chairman Board of Professional exams Hilal Ahmed Parray is from Kulgam.
Director SKIMS Dr AG Ahangar is from Tral.

Srinagar, Nov 20: The Jammu and Kashmir High court has directed the Chief Engineer Pubic Health Engineering (PHE) Kashmir to appear in the court, in an alleged misappropriation in the allotment of order which led to loss of 36 Lacs to the state exchequer.
One of the complainants has filed a writ petition under number 1356 of 2016 CMP NO 01/2016; against the Chief engineer PHE Kashmir, alleging that a misappropriation has been done in the allotment of supply orders.

Jammu, Nov 20: J&K Bank's Bathindi branch has landed in the net of State Vigilance Commission (SVC) as its rent agreement is allegedly fraudulent.
Jamat Ali and his wife Naseema, who own the complex, which houses the bank, is situated under survey number 1 in Bathindi. But in the revenue record used for rent deed, the complex falls under survey number 134.

JAMMU, Nov 20: The condition of newly constructed building of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) and hospital Jammu is only turning more pathetic by the day.
The building constructed at a cost of Rs 40 crore was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on August 31. It was hoped that the maintenance work would be done by the authority concerned. But the authority has failed to do so, as filthy floors, power cuts and shortage of water supply have added to the mess.

As part of its drive to stop billing of unauthorised service charge, a team of officers from the legal metrology department, under the supervision of deputy controller (enforcement) Manoj Prabhakar, today surveyed several hotels as it is an unfair and restrictive trade practice under Consumer Protection Act.
