Jammu, June2 : Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS) in collaboration of Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) today organized an interactive program on consumer rights. According to press release, Dy controller, Legal Metrology and Dy Director CAPD are invited by TNWS office for creating awareness among the residents of Trikuta Nagar about Rights, duties and their responsibilities as consumers. Large number of people attended the program. CWA also distributed among the participants copies of Jammu and Kashmir Consumer Protection Act 1987 and the consumer rights. Members were very critical of the repeated unscheduled power cuts, extremely unreliable service of BSNL and fleecing of patients by those connected with Health Care. Manoj Prabhakar, Dy Director, Legal Metrology gave a detailed account of the working of the department and the measures taken by his organization to check malpractices and advised the members present to be vigilant about their rights and come forward with their genuine complaints so that enforcement agencies are able to take appropriate action against defaulters.
