GoI takes note of exaggerated proposals under PMGSY | | | Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, June 2: The Union Ministry of Roads and Development has taught a bitter lesson to Jammu and Kashmir government, for sending exaggerated proposals of roads construction under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and is likely to get sanction to Rs. 1550 Crores revised proposals, which were withheld by the former for two years. Sources told Early Times that State Government had sent proposals to tune of Rs 3700 crore under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to the central government two years ago for their approval but due to exaggerated proposals, center withheld them for two years and later, center asked State government to send revised proposals by prioritizing them. "Discarding the inflated proposals of Rs 3700 crore, center, in its clear cut directions to State government, asked the state to revise the budgetary proposal by reducing the cost of proposals as it cannot be approved due to resource constraints," sources maintained further adding that it took lot time in making revised proposal and due to which many ongoing projects came to halt due to non availability of funds. They alleged that the flourishing adhocism within PWD R&B has led to the delay in PMGSY projects for at least two years due to which several unconnected areas could not get the much desired roads in time. "There were at least 400 projects in earlier sent proposals of Rs 3700 but after revising the proposal only 250 projects were sent to the center government for their sanctions by State. The most of the projects which have been sent for proposals are generally for up-gradation and belong to stage- II of Phase-X. No new road project has been incorporated in it," they said. Sources have confirmed that Government of India has given its nod to the revised proposals of PMGSY projects of Rs 1550 and state is likely to get funds shortly. |
