Jammu, June 2: Despite paying around Rs 1.2 crore as annual rent, the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) has spent additional Rs 70 lakh on temporary block in violation of General Financial Rules-2005. "The university has been paying Rs 1.2 crore annually as rent. At same time, the administration spent huge amount in violation of the laid norms," said the sources, alleging that the rent of building was fixed without consulting Central Public Work Department (CPWD). The sources said that an under construction building was hired at Sainik Colony to run temporary the academic block. "The Central University of Kashmir spent Rs 20,000 for rented accommodation at Sonawar for which the auditor has raised objection. On the other hand CUJ drained huge amount for the same purpose," the sources said. As per the provision university cannot invest in private property as was reported in case of Central University of Jharkhand where the university made some expenditure on the building offered by state government free of charge for running its courses; audit objections were raised and a show cause not was served to the vice chancellor of the university. |
