Jammu, June 2 : Dogra Sadar Sabha in collaboration of Wild life Protection department today organized programme 'save the birds day'. According to press release, President Dogra Sadar Sabha Gulchain Singh Charak flagged off the procession of the participants alongwith the officials of the Wild Life Protection Department, headed by Suresh Sharma, Wild Life Warden. While launching the programme by handing over one thousand earthen pots to the villagers and colleges/schools students who had come to collect them emphasized the need to save the birds. Birds and wild animals play very important role in the ecology of the area to maintain balance. He exhorted them to carry out the programme faithfully in whole of the summer season. It will go a long way to create awareness about the causes leading to water shortage and climate change and what should we do to avoid such catastrophes. Addressing the gathering Suresh Sharma explained in detail the importance of day and assured the department full cooperation for this noble cause in future also. The students of colleges and schools participated in hanging the earthen pots for birds in Maharaja Hari Singh Janana Park, Jambu Lochan Park and other important places where all the concerned agencies maintaining the above mentioned places to make the proper arrangements to fill these pots with water regularly every day in Summer months. Students of following Schools and Colleges participated in the procession; Dogra Law College, Dogra College of Education, Bari Brarhmana, Care College, Jammu, Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Rich Harvest School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu, Humanity Public School, Bari Brahmana, Sun Rise Higher Secondary School, Sikanderpur, New Era Mother High School, Nanak Nagar and other schools took part in the function. |
