Early Times Report

Poonch, Aug 9: Natrang staged highly socially relevant plays with the support of Krishna Ghati Brigade, Poonch. Written and directed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur, the plays included 'Iss Gran Gi Swarg Bani Lo' (Make this village a heaven), 'Choona Hai Aasmaan' and 'Suno Eh Kahani'. The most noteworthy feature of the presentations was the use of language and the local idioms.
According to press release, the productions were devised by Balwant Thakur in such an imaginative manner that audience was identifying with each situation and act created in the plays as if these plays were speaking about them and their village problems. Aimed at effectively educating the general masses, these plays spoke about burning human concerns like 'Save the Girl Child', 'Women empowerment and education' 'Sanitation Education- Swach Bharat Abhiyaan', 'Communal harmony' 'National integration' and 'Peace the pre-requisite for overall development'.
Theatre is one of the most effective medium of instruction and education as it has the amazing power to engage spectators emotionally, intellectually and spiritually at times and this was visible in today's performances where each word of the actors was touching the heart and mind of the audiences and was preparing them for a revolutionary change in their life-style. The motive of the writer was not only to educate the audience but was to inspire them to become the ambassadors of these messages aimed at the larger wellbeing of the public as a whole.
Another noteworthy feature of a live theatre performance is that it engrosses its spectators in totality and its denting impact makes a permanent imprint which lives in minds for decades. Natrang had made elaborate arrangements of most latest power packed heavy sound systems and remarkably the throw of the sound was travelling miles together echoing and reaching out to almost all the villages of the vicinity of Gulpur. Natrang team of twenty artists/technicians is camping in Poonch with a Truck loaded equipment to continue its endeavour to reach out with highly meaningful theatre to the far-flung remotest areas where people will witness dramas for the first time.
Natrang actors who performed in today's shows at Gulpur included Neeraj Kant, Mohd. Yaseen, Juhi Singh, Ankush Lakhnotra, Rajan Thakyal, Deepak Mulsoo, Rohit Sharma, Sudesh Parihar, Shivam Singh, Pankaj Verma, Harbans Lal, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Sonu and Mandeep Singh.
