Ex-DyCM likely to face action for his immoral activities during his tenure | Has Congress decided to abandon Tara Chand? | | ET Report jammu, Aug 10: Conspicuous absence of former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand from crucial meeting of the executive committee meeting of Pradesh Congress Committee has fuelled the speculations that Congress leadership has decided to abandon the "tainted" leader for his misdeeds and misconducts during this tenure. All senior leaders of the party including those who are known loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad were present in executive committee meeting which was held at Pahalgam on August 8. Some leaders, who could not attend the meeting, prior convened it to the PCC chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir but there was no communication between Tara Chand and office bearers of the party. Credible sources in the Congress said that there is feeling among party leadership that instead of carry forward the burden of tainted leader like Tara Chand it is in the interest of the party to abandon him at point of time to give a new look to the party in Jammu region. There is also a feeling among party leaders that arrest of Tara Chand is looking imminent after his close confident Kewal Kumar Sharma has started exposing misdeeds, mis-conducts and immoral activities of his ex-boss in the Court of Law. Credible sources said that for the Pahalgam executive committee only formal information was given to Tara Chand to ensure that he would not participate in the meeting. Majority of the leaders in the Congress are of the opinion that it is in the interest of the party not to give importance to Tara Chand because party would face embarrassment in the days to come because Kewal Kumar Sharma has already turned approver to expose his former boss. As reported earlier by the Early Times, Kewal, who was hiding since formation of PDP-BJP government in the State, came out in open after he was assured protection by some BJP leaders and administration. Kewal had announced to give statement against his ex-boss in the court of law and he had done it during the first hearing of a case. As reported earlier Jammu and Kashmir High Court (Jammu Wing) had directed police to produce the entire records of the enquiry which led to withdrawal of complaint against former Tara Chand accusing him of murder, corruption and rape. Court of Justice Bansi Lal Bhat had directed Director General of Police, J&K and Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu to furnish all records of the enquiry report where-by the then SSP Jammu Atul Goel (IPS) closed the com-plaint lodged by a petitioner seeking constitution of SIT to probe the allegations leveled by one KewalSharma on July, 26, 2013 at a press conference in Jammu against the then Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand. Kewal Sharma had alleged that the then Deputy Chief Minister is involved in murder of three persons, corruption, immorality and rape of two Jammu based girls. Besides this Kewal Sharma also alleged apprehension of elimination at the hands of the then Deputy Chief Minister. |
