Militants gave slip to SFs in Bijbehara | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report
Anantnag, Aug 10: Militants in South Kashmir's Mehand Srigufwara area of Bijbehara today gave slip to the security forces and fled the area unhurt during overnight gun battle. According to the reports, army's 3RR and SOG Srigufwara received a tip off about the presence of two militants in Mehand Srigufwara area of Bijbehara and consequently a joint operation was launched in the area at around 9:40pm. They said that during the search operation, two militants hiding at the residence of Mohammad Asad Wagay s/o Abdul Satar Wagay hurled two grenades on security forces ensuing fierce gun battle. Official sources confirmed that militants took benefit of the darkness and escaped from the spot. "Our primary focus was to avoid collateral damage during the gun battle. We were vacating the houses but militants fired on our party and managed to slip," an official said. "Forces have recovered one magazine with 15 rounds from the encounter site," he added. Reports informed that gun battle created panic among the residents who witnessed the gun battle after a gap of about ten years. Forces called off the operation at midnight and detained the son of the house owner. Detained youth was identified as Mudasir Ahmad Wagay s/o Asdullah Wagay and has reportedly sustained injuries on the spot. Reports said that this morning forces intensified its search operations in the Mehand Srigufwara and adjoining villages to nab the militants. |
