| Inspector, Cop misusing official positions under 'very nose' of DGP | | Avails high end facilities, manages 'rewards' with ease | | Early Times Report
jammu, Aug 10: Arbitrary postings and misuse of official position by the cops in different ranks is nothing new in the J&K's Police Department. What makes certain instances raise eye brows is when these happen under the very nose of DGP who heads the department. Latest in the chain which has created angst within the rank and file of PHQ Jammu is a tale of alleged fraud and illegal works committed by one inspector attached with DGP and his PSO, both of whom are enjoying power and privileges to hilt.
Sources said the said inspector at PHQ Jammu has created a record of sorts in misusing his official position by all means and yet not facing any action, despite so many complaints having been lodged against him. The said inspector has become not just all powerful but is managing privileges from a well maintained residential quarter with lavish expenditures on its do up to keeping a gypsy at disposal of the family at Jammu for entire year, he is enjoying all with ease. While all other officers far more senior to him wait helplessly for even small repairs, this inspector on account of his imposed power wielding tactics has managed to get it as a matter of undue and out of the way benefit. Lakhs of rupees are alleged to have been spent on the quarter at Gulshan Grounds on modular kitchen, high end bathrooms and class furnishings besides a boundary wall of his quarter and a huge gate constructed as against nearby ill maintained quarters of SPs, DSPs. The said officer is managing it with concerned quarters on the claim that he is very close to DGP which is why funds are provided quickly for these works, sources said.
The inspector is said to have managed hundreds of litres of fuel per month for the gypsy for no official work instead what he provided to his family for full summer last year while he was at Srinagar with Durbar Move, sources further revealed. What has caused resentment and angst among the officers of his rank and even senior to him is the fact that he has reportedly managed drawal of reward more than 50,000 for himself during the year 2014 from time to time from different officers of PHQ in different orders for so called 'good work'. However, nobody knows what good work he has done and it remains a mystery as to why no one dares to ask him questions on that. Sources further said the Inspector has also got attached one Constable by using his official position whom he kept at Jammu during entire summer for personal works. The constable was given TA from Jammu to Srinagar and Srinagar to Jammu as an entitlement for Durbar Move, sources said.
They further said this constable too is not performing any official duty instead he is seen all the time roaming in Police Gypsy. He is alleged to be in league with land grabbers, intimidating the public by introducing himself as PSO to DGP.
While many complaints are said to have been directed to higher authorities against the duo, any action eludes and so has there been no enquiry initiated into the matters so mentioned time and again involving them. As the name of DGP has been dragged, will he take a look into the matter is a moot question. |
