SHO minting money by rubbing “Aladin Ka Chirag” | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 10: The SHO of an important police station in the winter capital city here is nowadays busy in minting money unlawfully by rubbing the "Aladin Ka Chirag" with impunity from law. The police station is located at a place where thousands of people happen to come daily from within and outside the state. Two days back, the SHO received information that some people in his jurisdiction were engaged in the illegal game of "matka" gambling. He raided the secret place and picked up four persons while gambling, police sources alleged. He shifted the accused to the police station and subjected them to sustained questioning. On the basis of their questioning, he prepared a list of gamblers along with their cellphone numbers, sources said. "Now, he is calling the gamblers to the police station one by one and charging huge money from them for not booking them in the case," sources alleged. Of the four gamblers, who were apprehended by him from their secret place of gambling, three had been freed while the case was registered against the fourth. "A case was registered by the SHO against the one of the accused only after the word spread that he had struck a deal with the gamblers. He is the kingpin but he has been shown as a small fry in the police report," sources alleged. While the SHO had told his seniors that he was still probing into the case, the fact was that he had got "Aladin Ka Chirag' and had been rubbing it to mint money, sources said. |
