Family alleges murder, holds protest outside Kishtwar PS

Kishtwar, Aug 10: The mystery shrouded over the disappearance of class 9th student of a private school here after his family members claim that the missing boy identified by police sources as Aqib Hussain son of Ghulam Hussain resident of Mughal Maidan at present Wasserkund Kishtwar has been murder by his friends and held a strong protest outside police station Kishtwar and demanded registration of murder case against his two friends and a class 5th student. As per the details available with "Early Times", Aqib left the home yesterday afternoon and did not return by evening forcing the family members to launch manhunt to trace him and even brought the matter of his mysterious disappearance to Kishtwar police. As the news of disappearance of Aqib spread, the family members comes to know that Aqib was seen with two of his friend also student of 9th class along with another boy, a student of class 5th, alleging that they have murdered him and held a strong protest outside police station Kishtwar. On the bases of the inputs, Kishtwar police party led by Dy. SP HQ Touseef Ahmed and SHO Police Station Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani swung into action and detain the friends of missing youth and started their questioning. During the course of the investigation, the friends of the missing youths informed the police that they along with Aqib went for a picnic on the bank of river Chenab, added that Aqib tried to go for the swimming inside the river as a result of which he was drowned. They said that they tried their best to save him, But the strong currents of water washed him away, added that after this incident they were shocked and did not inform anything to anyone, but in the morning they narrated the story to family members who intimated the same to others and termed the drowning of Aqib as incident. On the bases of statement given by Aqib's friend, Kishtwar police with the help of locals launched a search operation on the banks of river Chenab, but did not find any trace of missing youth when last report came in. A senior police officer when contacted said that the preliminary investigation reveals that Aqib was drowned in river Chenab, added that the investigation is still going on. He said that if Aqib according to the statement of his friend had died due to drowning, the main focus of search team is to trace out his dead body so that investigation could move forward.
