Jammu, Aug 10: Jammu University's Public Relations Officer Dawood Baba, according to insiders, is a law unto himself.
After receiving complaints of favoritism and nepotism against him, the Vice-Chancellor held three meetings with Registrar, Campus Coordinator, Directors of Campuses and Joint Registrars Finance.
"But so powerful is Baba that even the VC could not take any action against him," said sources.
"Ultimately, the VC had to 'surrender' before Dawood, and to save his skin he authorised the Chief Coordinator campuses Prof Rajnikant Sharma to take a decision on the matter," they said.
Sources Prof Rajnikant tried his best to resolve the issue, "but whenever he tried to call a meeting in this context, Dawood used his influence and raised objections on the file to defer the meeting just to shield himself and his associates."
"Dawood has already tamed many top officials of the university including the VC to save one of his associates, who was otherwise discussed during the high level meeting of the university administration," said sources.
Even after efforts of some university officials to get the mess clean, Dawood managed to suppress the resenting voices against him and maintained the lobby for himself and his associates, they said.
