President addresses Central universities, other central institutions | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 10 : President of India today addressed the students and faculty members of Central universities, IITs, NITs and other central institutions of India through video conferencing using NKN. According to press release, the welcome address was delivered by Director, IIT - Kanpur. 180 institutions participated in the live conference, and 1500 institutions used webcasting facility to witness the presidential address. On this occasion, the president of India in his address stressed on the quality of education and research amongst the institutions of higher education across the country and urged the academic fraternity and students to be honest towards research endeavors. He also emphasized on building an inspired teachers network that are self motivated, mission driven and result oriented and stressed upon the need of applied research and involvement of alumni in the development of the institutions. Faculty and students from IISc Bangalore, IISER- Mohali and NIT Arunachal Pradesh shared their experiences and posed queries to the President of India. Vote of thanks was delivered by Vice Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University. At Central University of Jammu the address was attended by officers, faculty, scholars and students. Jit Singh, Registrar CUJ, Prof. Devanand, Prof. Deepak Raj Sharma, Prof. Lokesh Verma and Prof. S.P.Sharma were present in the auditorium during presidential addressed. It is however pertinent to mention that the President of India in his capacity as the visitor of Central Universities, IITs, NITs and other institutes of higher learning addresses the students and faculty members twice in a year, once at the beginning of the year and second at the beginning of academic year. |
