LA session likely to be deferred to Sept end | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 10: With the deadline for convening a session of the Legislative Assembly falling on October 9, the chances of a session in August seem quite bleak. And, if the sources are to be believed then there is likelihood of one month delay in the session. The session , sources said is likely to be delayed as the government does not want to give any chance to the opposition parties to criticise it on issues like AIIMS, rehabilitation of flood victims and the recent ReT controversy. Sources said the government intends to do some `damage control' before convening the session. A week long session was held in August last year. Secretary Legislative Assembly Mohammad Ramzan told newsmen that no dates had been finalised yet. The session, according to sources may be held at the end of September. Pefrtinent to mention, a session has to be held necessarily before October 9. There should not be a gap of more than six months between two sessions. The budget session ended on April 8 and the next session , therefore, has to be held before October 9. The session can be called by the governor once the government submits a proposal. |
