Adminstrative decision on clubbing of schools invite students, parents' ire

Rajouri, Aug 10: Not withstanding with the Government order for clubbing Govt schools, the parents and locals of Nallah Thumba expressed their anguish over the future of their wards whose school was merged with GPS Nallah in Sunderbani tehsil of district Rajouri recently.
Lambasting distt. Administration, the parents of students of Govt Primary school Nallah Thumba said that the said school having total roll of 27 students have been merged with Govt Primary school Nallah in Sunderbani of Distt. Rajouri. The distance between Nallan Thumba and Nallan is about 1 ½kms and the terrain from Nallah Thumba to Nallah is not physiable and our wards have to face lot of hardships to reach there while crossing couple of river tributaries they added. They alleged that Govt is playing with the future of our children and their education is at stake.
Since the clubbing of the school took place one month ago and the teacher incharge Mamta Devi also joined the new school, but parents did not sent their wards. They threatened of due consequences if the future of their children was not taken care of and immediate re-open of GPS Nallan Thumba as was previously.
While talking to Chief Education Officer Rajouri A H Fani, he maintained that the order has been issued by the concerned Ministry and in this case I am unable to do anything. Hence order can be revoked, CEO maintained.
Supporting the parent's cause of the wards of said school locals have also joined their protest including area Sarpanch Nallah Makol Tirath Ram. They have served one weeks ultimatum to concerned authorities to re-open GPS Nallah Thumba as it was functional earlier otherwise they will come on roads and block Jammu-Poonch highway at Bambla chowk and also sit on hunger strike if the demand is not met in stipulated time.
