Kathua, Aug 9: The Tier-II Training Course of 5 days on "Sustainable Development and Management of Ground Water Resources" was today started at Kathua. According to press release, with an objective to build capacity amongst Scientists, Engineers, technocrats, Scholars from Academic institutes, NGO's and other Stake holders in water resources sector, by Central Ground Water Board, North Western Himalayan Region, Jammu under the aegis of the Rajiv Gandhi National Ground Water Research and Training Institute, Raipur. Ashok Kumar Gandotra, Superintending Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Hydraulic Circle, Kathua, was the 'Chief Guest' of the Inaugural function. J.N. Bhagat, Scientist 'D', CGWB, Jammu Presided over the function. Vinod Sharma, Scientist 'D', CGWB, Jammu briefed about the activities and achievement of Central Ground Water Board in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and introduced to the officer trainees about Tier - III Trainings for capacity building at village level and future activities of the board in the next five year plans. He suggested the trainees to implement the knowledge that they are going to acquire in this very beneficial five day training program, in their field areas in future. The Chief Guest also released the Training Reference Module. The important area of NAQIM project is Participatory Approach, by which Aquifer management plans at village level is envisaged. He also explained the need of multi-disciplinary collaborative scientific studies to manage our precious ground water resources. |
