Bijay Charak Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 13: The Education Department has left no stone unturned to oblige influential teachers to get their choicest postings in schools of Doda district. For example, in Government Middle School (GMS) Mandier in Bhaderwah, there are four teachers belonging to a particular family among 25 teachers manning the school with 90 students on roll. The GMS Mandier is situated in the heart of Bhaderwah town, and according to sources, every influential teacher has tried his/her best to get posted there. "At present, the teachers posted in this school have their relatives at good position in the district administration," said sources. They said most of the teachers seldom visit the school, as only a few teachers are needed to take care of the small number of students. The students enrolled in this school belong to local income groups, and many times the parents apprised the Zonal Education Officer about the situation in the school. To no avail, though. A parent even tried to meet Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Bhaderwah, but he was not allowed inside. "If you want to meet the SDM, then you need to have a four-five member delegation," the man was told, according to sources. "I'm a labourer and I don't want that my children to become labourers too. When I first saw my children at home during school hours, I scolded them. But they told me that most of the teachers stay in the school for few minutes and leave. So who is going to take these insensitive teachers to task," the man said. The SDM Bhaderwah, Mohammad Anwar Banday, was not available for comment. Chief Education Officer Ajit Kumar Sharma said that ZEO Bhaderwah was promoted last month and the post is vacant. "I'm not aware about the school, but I assure that I will look into the issue and take action against the teachers," he said. |
