With 'renegades', former militants calling shots; young Turks of BJP feeling alienated | Call for setting the house in order | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) may have articulate and astute party cadre across India but in Jammu & Kashmir the well read and qualified people within the party are not given due importance and they feel alienated from the party and its programmes. Sources told Early Times that many youth who joined in the state expecting that they would be given good position are a disappointed lot these days. These youth nowadays are ruing their luck and are somewhat pondering over their decision to join the BJP that emerged single largest party from Jammu in the 2014 assembly elections. "BJP had emerged as a new force on the political horizon on the country and we were expecting the same from party in the state. However, due to the utter surprise people who don't know how to talk and handle the situation are enjoying advantageous positions in the party. On the other hand there is no say of educated lot," said a group of young BJP members. This group of young BJP members are quite aghast over the fact that some of the 'renegades' have been given very important positions in the party in the Kashmir division. There is no place for the young guns in the overall policy making and decision taking of the party in the state more so Kashmir valley. "A top notch office bearer of the party in Kashmir is accused of amassing huge wealth and resorting to other malpractices. Serious allegations of molestation have also been leveled against this person who is comparatively new to BJP in the state. But still then he has been given a very important position in the party and one if forced to mock over the same," said young BJP members. It would be in place to mention here that some of the former militants have taken refuge in BJP in Kashmir and ironically are calling shots vis-à-vis party matters and policies as well. The importance given to these former militants goes well against the stated policy of BJP wherein it has opposed gun and violence. "The former militants caused havoc with the gun and now they are taking refuge under the fold of BJP. This is highly disturbing and needs to be looked into proper perspective. The national leadership should have taken a serious note of this development so that some difference is made to the overall image of the party in state more so Kashmir," said young BJP members. The young BJP members have demanded that BJP President Amit Shah to intervene in the matter and set the house in order in Jammu & Kashmir. They say that further delay in this regard would be detrimental to the interests of party in the state and may not augur well in future elections for both Lok Sabha as well as state assembly. |
