Delay in start of power projects, Sarpanchs seek PM’s intervention | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Aug 13: Sarpanch Association Kishtwar today urged upon Prime Minister to make his personal intervention for ensuring early start of power projects in Kishtwar district. As per the details available with "Early Times", Sarpanch Association Kishtwar today held a meeting under the Chairmanship of its President Manoj Parihar wherein various issues and problems faced by the Sarpanchs of Kishtwar district were discussed threadbare including the delay in release of payments worth approximately Rs 80 crore pending under MGNREGA in Kishtwar district. All the elected Panchayat representatives expressed concern over the issue of growing unemployment in Kishtwar district and urged upon the centre as well as the state governments for start of work on at least one power project in the district as was promised by both Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as well as by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the public rallies at Chowghan ground Kishtwar. They said that the problem of unemployment is so big that it could be addressed only with the early start of work on power projects like 1000 MW Pakal-Dool or 650 MW Kwar. The said that many youths were also eying on restart of work on 850 MW Rattle Power Project which was suspended over a year ago due to internal problem between the two companies GVK Powers and L&T. They said that in case the government fails to start work on projects in Kishtwar district, the Sarpanch Association along with youths of the district and adjoining areas will launch a massive agitation against the government. |
