BHADERWAH, Aug 13: As the Congress is looking to rejuvenate itself, it is presently on a mission in erstwhile Doda district to 'charge' its grassroots workers and 'educate' its leaders.
District Congress Committee Doda has decided to hold one day convention at town hall Doda on August 17, as part of mass contact programme in order to have a broader interaction with party workers at grass root level.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Ghulam Ahmed Mir and other senior leaders of the party including the incharge PCC office bearers and all Ex and sitting MLAs /MLCs of the respective areas shall attend these programme to bring in better coordination within the organization.
Informing about the one day convention in a high level meeting of office bearers, Sarpanchs, Panchs and workers at Bhaderwah today, MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta, who is also president District Congress Committee Doda said, "The party has started the process to rejuvenate the grass root cadre to take up the public issues in wake of BJP and PDP's unholy alliance which is ignoring the aspirations and issues of people."
"Our target is also to touch the ground level worker, to charge them, to gear them up and get them on board. In the convention Ghulam Nabi Azad and President PCC Jenab Ghulam Ahmed Mir will be present who will throw light on the policies and programmes of the party," he added.
He further said that several Congress workers are needed to be disciplined so that the party could fare better in the next elections.
"Unfortunately, some of our workers do not know the party policies. Our aim is to educate them as they think just by wearing kurta, they become leaders. Our aim is to prepare a team for the next innings so that we give better results and for that we are hopeful of achieving the desired results," he said.
