| Following the partitions of India in 1947 which led to formation of a new nation called as Pakistan on the basis of two nation theory which was proved later on a fake concept because the formation of Pakistan was the basis of Muslim majority concept but large number of Muslim population remained in India and thus theory based on Islamic ideology failed and even today the number of muslims residing in India is more than the total Muslim population of Pakistan.
The Mohd Ali. Jinah and other Muslim leaders of Pakistan hatched a conspiracy to expel non Muslim from Kashmir now (POK) with the help of tribal invaders of NWFP like Wazirstan etc. The tribal's attacked non Muslims and expelled them from a large part of Kashmir like Tehsil Plundari, Tehsil Bagh, Tehsil Mirpur , Tehsil Kotli Rawla Kote, Teshil Muzzarabad and tehsil Bimber dewa Batala . The large influx of people of these areas were butchered, their properties worth lakhs of rupees looted at that time, women modesty outraged, young girls captured forcibly, houses were burnt and people left their every thing immovable and movable property behind and became refugee in the part of J&K. Since then these people who have been living in different parts of J&K and other states of India have never been compensated for the losses they suffered during the partitions. Number of representatives and petitions filed with govt. of India but no concrete step taken to redress long pending demands of refugees.
GoI has been assuring the POJK refugees that refugees will go back to their homes sooner or later and the refugees with assurances were hopeful of their return but on the other side Pakistan has been making statements that Kashmir can become a nuclear flash point has since 1965 fought three wars with India and apart from this a Gorilla war since 1989 is being fought in J&K with this intention that India may not ask Pakistan to vacate POJK which is presently under its illegal occupation,
The stress and trauma these refugees faced after leaving behind their all belongings cannot be expressed in words, most of the elders collapsed soon after their leaving the mother land in deep shock and many died due to disease, famine and outbreak of various diseases in refugees camps like cholera, typhoid etc. Due to shortage of food and drinking of contaminated water. Refugees were taken to various camps in the state some were put in tents like Nagrota camps, simbal camp, badyal brahmna camps, Bhor camps, Gole Gujral camps, Satriyan Camps in R.S.Pura and even various Camps outside the state. The refugee started their living with meager earnings so that they can pull on their livelihood. There was hopes to refugee with every passing day that GoI or the state Govt. shall announce their return to their homelands but the exgratia of Rs 3500 per family was just like a placebo to a patient by doctor prescribed and lands to few refugees living near to IB in the district Jammu , Kathua presently Samba district. The refugees various committees headed by its delegates and president moved from pillar to posts and even during Vajpayee (NDA) Govt. Sikander Bakht as revenue minister Govt. of India visited the J&K state's in various refugees camps and after visiting the camps submitted the report to PM of India and what happened later on is not known as yet till date.
UPA govt in 2014 asked the state govt. of J&K to send a wetted report of compensation of refugees claims and the J&K govt approved recommended Rs 25 laks for each family of refugee only at the time when state election of assembly were on the head. The one time settlement refugee package of Rs 25 lakhs was sent to NDA govt in year 2015 which is still there and is like a dream come true issue.
POJK refugees want to return back to their mother land i.e. POK and if not compensated adequately as promised during parliamentary as well as recently held assembly election in J&K state.
The GoI should ask Pakistan govt to vacate the area of Kashmir under its illegal occupation as per UN resolution on Kashmir is concerned. if not the refugees of POJK should be given all sort of facilities which migrant Kashmiri pundits are availing through out India.
There should not be different yardstick for refugees of same state in India because POJK is also an integral part of India like J&K.
Beside this POJK refugee want 5% reservation for their children in professional colleges in the state as well as in other states of India. After 68 years of partition a large number of refugees are living in camps at various places in the state.
Most of their children have adopted a transport profession because they are not getting govt jobs and many refugees are living in highly pathetic condition.
The GoI must sent demark some safe areas for their refugees colonies away form LoC and IB so that they can also live like other peaceful citizen of India. They are nationalist people and have suffered a lot during successive wars with Pakistan in 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999 during Kargil conflict whenever there was descalation on IB and LoC so they are deserving a good deal form the GoI in the form of either compensation or creating a conducive atmosphere for their return to areas of Kashmir presently under illegal occupation of Pakistan. |
