Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 17: The Postal Department had advertised posts in various categories nearly two years ago, but till date it has failed to initiate the process for the recruitments. The department had sought applications to fill up 150 posts of Multi Tasking Staffs (MTS) and postmen, and more than 18,000 aspirants applied for the posts. After scrutiny of the 18,000 applications, the department shortlisted nearly 10,000 candidates for written test, which is yet to be conducted.
As per guidelines, the recruitment process was to be completed within six months. But two years on, the recruitment process is still hanging in balance due to which the aspirants have been left clueless.
When contacted, Chief Post Master General, Chander Parkash, said it was difficult to conduct interview of the huge number of applications.
"The applications we received were more than our expectations. Since we have not sufficient space to conduct the interview and written test, the process got delayed," he said.
The CPMG said the test would be conducted very soon.
