Teachers of GHSS Katra continue to run illegal tuition centres | | | Shiv Dev Thakur
Early Times Report
KATRA, Aug 17: Most of the teachers at Government Higher Secondary School Katra have not shut down their private tuition centres where students are forced to study-despite protests by parents of the students. As reported earlier by Early Times, some parents had approached the higher authorities of Education Department and apprised them about the situation. They had accused some of the teachers namely Karan Gupta, Sham Lal, Shyam Lal, Gayatri Ram and Deepak of running their educational 'shops'. The parents had also alleged that the principal of the school, Tripta Bhardwaj, was supporting the teachers instead of taking them to task. The parents told Early Times that a meeting was called and the students were invited after they filed a suit filed against the staff of the school. They meeting, which was chaired by Joint Director, Education Department, did not however fetch any results as the teachers are continuing with their illegal practice. "Rather than patiently listening to us, an employee namely Pankaj Kumar used abusive language and threatened us of grievous consequences," the parents said. A student said the officials who had come for the meeting "tried to convince us to give in writing. But we refused to write any application and demanded answer sheets before writing any application." Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Reasi told Early Times that "we have constituted an inquiry committee to redress the grievance of the students, and we hope the students will get justice and the culprits will be punished." He said the committee is collecting information which is to be submitted in the court August 17." |
