Bovine smuggling bid foiled, one held | | | Rajouri, Aug 17: Continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers, Rajouri police today foiled a fresh bovine smuggling bid here today with the arrest of one person and rescuing five animals being illegally transported to Kashmir. According to police spokesperson from Rajouri, on specific information, the police team led by Inspector Narinder Singh, SHO Police Station Thanamandi under supervision of Ifitqar Talib, SDPO laid a police 'naka' in Thanamandi. "During naka checking police team intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration No JK11A-1451 carrying five bovine animals, Police said adding, "during questioning the driver identified namely Naseer Ahmed s/o Mohd Shabir of Planger (Thanamandi) failed to produce the required permission for the transportation of bovine animals towards Kashmir Valley via Mughal Road." Accordingly he was taken under custody, police said adding, "the vehicle was also seized while animals were rescued." A case under FIR No 123/15 u/s 188 RPC and 3 PCA against the accused stands registered at concerned police station. Police said that Rajouri Police have intensified drive against bovine smugglers and since early this year police have registered 83 cases of bovine smuggling against 159 persons and have rescued 496 bovine animals besides seizing 47 vehicles. A police official said that the drive under the supervision of Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri is being carried out on war footing basis with the aim to curb the menace of Bovine Smuggling. |
