Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 17: BJP today claimed that the AIIMS issue was settled as per the aspirations of the people of Jammu and welcomed the decision of Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) to call off its strike saying it was an endorsement of the party's stand on establishment of institution here.
"The AIIMS issue stands settled as per the aspirations of the people of Jammu. The decision of Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) to call off its strike is endorsement of party's repeated stand on establishment of AIIMS in Jammu", BJP State Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi told reporters here today.
Sethi said the decision of the general house of BAJ to call off strike reflects on the confidence on the BJP government by its members in general on the issue of AIIMS, which according to party is now a settled issue.
"The same can be well understood that necessary directions for identification of land both in Jammu and Srinagar have already been issued," he said. "With the resumption of normal working in the courts after calling off the strike, the problems of the litigants will also be mitigated", he said, adding that the party welcomed the decision of the Bar Association.
Sethi said the decision of the BAJ is also a befitting reply to vested interests, which were deliberately creating confusions to mislead the public, when there was overall appreciation of the steps taken by Union Government in timely providing AIIMS for Jammu as per the aspirations of the people.
He further assured the public that BJP government at the Centre and coalition in the State were committed to establishment of two AIIMS in Jammu and Srinagar and any statement made to the contrary were politically motivated and intended to shield the corrupt politicians from the reach of law by diverting the attention of the masses.
The party spokesperson further said appropriate action as per law would be taken against all such public figures who were indulging in corrupt practices during the previous Govts in the state.
