Kathua, Aug 17: The sleuths of forest department posted at Forest Check Post Lakhanpur under the supervision of Ashwani Kumar, SFS, Divisional Forest Officer Kathua and B M Sharma, IFS, Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu today foiled a bid to smuggle Multiple Forest Products (MFPs) outside the state from Salamabad, Uri. According to official spokesperson, staff posted at Forest Check Post Lakhanpur headed by Munish Gupta, Range Officer Lakhanpur under the supervision of Ashwani Kumar, SFS, Divisional Forest Officer Kathua and B M Sharma, IFS, Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu on suspicion put the truck bearing Registration no JK05E-0315 for physically checking. "The truck on its way from Salamabad, Uri to outside the state shows as per the Form-25, it was loaded with Morchas 7081 Kgs (116 Bags), Gound Chowara 498 Kgs (10 Bags), Gugal 929 Kgs (22 Bags) and Gul Anar 419 Kgs (21 Bags), the spokeperson said and added, "however on physical checking, it was found to carrying Mochras 8145 Kgs (114 Bags), Gound Chowara 385 Kgs (09 Bags), Gugal 1075 Kgs (27 Bags) and Gul Anar 450 Kgs (18 Bags) with overall variation of 1128 Kgs of excess of these MFPs." He said that the false assertion with regard to the quantity of these MFPs in this truck imported from LOC trade at Salamabad, Uri was made in order to camouflage and facilitate concealed movement of MFPs and it is the 2nd such attempt foiled by the Forest Deptt in association with Excise Deptt Lakhanpur in last few days. The forest department sleuths seized the truck alongwith the stuff(MFPs) under the Section-26(1) for the violation of Section- 2, 6, 13, 15 and 16 of The Jammu and Kashmir Forest Act, 1987(1930 A.D). |
