NPSU criticizes Govt | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 17: National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) activists today staged protest against Government regarding the Entrance Examination of Naib Tehsildar. According to press release, NPSU activists assembled outside the gate of Jammu University raising slogans against BJP-PDP government and burnt the effigy of Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh. Addressing the gathering, Thakur Virender Singh flayed the government for fixing highly unreasonable, illogical and discriminatory criteria for selection of Naib-Tehsildar in the state. He said prescribing 30 marks mandatory test in Urdu for the said selections was arbitrary and highly discriminatory. He said that earmarking 30 marks for Urdu was a deliberate decision to help Kashmir based candidates as Urdu subject was mainly taught in Kashmir. The criteria would operate most harshly against candidates of Jammu region as such candidates do not have the knowledge of Urdu. He regretted it was the first time Hindi knowing student were being given prejudicial treatment. He further pointed out that Urdu language is not compulsory even in KAS exams. He said that if several non-Urdu knowing KAS officers could be appointed as Tehsildars then why Urdu was being made compulsory for Naib-Tehsildars. Others who were present in the protest demonstration included Rishi Badyal, Lovely Singh, Keshav Sharma, Shubam Jasrotia, Sourav and Sumith. |
