Special prayers of holy mace offered at Amreshwar temple | Concluding phase of Amarnath yatra begins | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 17: In connection with two- month long holy Amarnath yatra concluding on August 29 (Sawan Purnima) a large number of Sadhus drawn from different parts of country today offered special prayers to Chhari Mubarak, the silver mace of Lord Shiva at Amreshwar Temple here. This marks the starting of concluding phase of the yatra to holy cave of Lord Shiva situated at an altitude of 3880 meters in Himalyan region of South Kashmir district of Anantnag. The yatra started on July 1 from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas Jammu. Led by Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodian of the holy mace, the Sadhus performed Chhari Sathapana ceremony amid chanting of Vedic Mantras at the Amreshwar templehere in the heart of Capital City this morning. Informing this an official of Dashnami Akhara Trust said the holy mace depicting Lord Shiva and Godess Parvati will be kept in the temple for the darshan of devotees up to August 25 the day when holy mace will leave for Swami Amarnath Ji cave. Earlier special prayers were offered to Chhari Mubarak at historical Shankaracharya temple on August 14 and Sharika Bhagwati temple at Hari Parvat on July 16 in a traditional way. The traditional prayers will also be offered to holy mace in Amreshwar temple on August 19 the day coinciding with Nag Panchmai before the holy mace starts the main course of pilgrimage towards the cave shrine of Lord Shiva through the traditional Phalgam route and Chandanwari track. Accompanied by Sadhus the Mahant Deepender Giri Ji will join the annual pilgrimage along with holy mace on Tuesday. The Chhari Mubarak will be offered prayers at Durga Nag temple Srinagar, Shiv Temple Pampore, Shiv Temple Bijbehara, holy shrine of Mattan and Ganesh Bal Pahalgam before leaving for Chandanwari on August 26. The holy mace will perform darshan in cave shrine on August 29, the day of Sawan Purnima. With this the two month long yatra will conclude and holy mace will start the return journey. The Yatra will formally conclude after the immersion of the relics in river Lidder on August 31 by Sadhus who will be served Prashad before leaving from Srinagar. Meanwhile, 758 pilgrims on 46th day of yatra performed darshan in holy cave today. According to an official spokesman 430 pilgrims left from Baltal to holy cave this morning while equal number returned from there after performing darshan. The spokesman said it was raining on both the tracks today however the yatra proceeded smoothly. |
