Srinagar, Aug 17: About 300 school children (boys & girls) of Government Boys High School, Natipora, Srinagar took part in a cross country run which was sponsored by the Jammu & Kashmir Bank. Principal of the School Fatima Laherwal flagged off the race.
After the conclusion of the run, an impressive function in which students presented light cultural programme and spoke on various topics, was held in the School premises. Principal Government Higher Secondary School, Channapora, Srinagar, Mehmooda and other staff of the schools were present on the occasion. Prizes were distributed among the winners.
Sajjad Bazaz, Incharge Corporate Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility departments of the J&K Bank, who was chief guest on the occasion, distributed prizes among the students. Mehmooda, principal Govt. Hr. Sec School, Channapora also distributed prizes among the students.
While speaking on the occasion, Sajjad Bazaz listed need of extracurricular activities to be fully embedded in the overall child development programmes right from the school level.
Fatima Laherwal, Principal of the school, apprised the audience about the activities of the school, particularly in the area of extracurricular segment. "We have around three hundred students in the school. Despite lack of proper infrastructure, we have been trying our level best to inculcate a sense of sportsmanship spirit and a sense of being disciplined among the students. Our students have won various championships in different sports," she said. |
