Bovine smuggling bid foiled; one held, others escape | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Dec 10: In its ongoing drive against bovine smugglers, the Kishtwar police today claimed to have rescued 18 bovine animals from Palmar area of Kishtwar Kishtwar with arrest one person while two managed to escape from the spot. However police have rescued 18 animals from the clutches of bovine smugglers As per the details available with "Early Times", following a tip off about the transportation of bovine animals during late hours, police party led by PSI Ranjeet Singh under the supervision of SHO Police Station Kishtwar Mohammad Afzal Wani and Dy SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed laid a nakka near Jodha Nagar Palmar and intercepted a group of persons carrying some animals on suspicion. "On seeing police two persons managed to give slip to police while one person namely Ishtaq Ahmed son of Mohammad Rafiq resident of Sigdi Chatroo Kishtwar was arrested on the spot by police besides rescuing 18 bovine animals (3 cows, 4 oxen and 11 yaks (8 male and 3 females) from the possession of the accused after the accused failed to provide due document in regard to transportation of animals by nodal authorities , police said. Meantime Police after questioning the accused have identified the absconders as Mohammad Iqbal and Atta Mohammad both resident of Deller Chatroo and launched a massive man hunt to nab the absconders. "A case FIR No. 213 U/S 188 RPC was registered at Police Station Kishtwar, police said, " adding, "the further investigations have been set into motion. " |
