Anger brewing among locals as PDD fails to deliver 'electricity bill' for last four months | | | Shiv Dev Thakur Early Times Report
Katra, Dec 10: Residents in some localities of the holy town Katra are worried and apprehensive as they have not received the electricity bills against their usage of power especially when the Power Development Department (PDD) has attracted strong criticism after sending a bill of over Rs 3.9 Crore to its consumer in Jammu. Irked over the non delivery of power bills for the last four month the residents in some pockets of the Katra town are living in apprehensions if they too might get deflated bills for this period as a Ram Krishan, a resident of Puran Nagar in Talab Tillo area of Jammu city was shell shocked when he receive a bill of around Rs 3.9 Crore for the month of October. Locals are just running from pillar to post get bills even the duplicate against the non billing period i.e. for the last four month but repeated visits to the office always turn to futile as they only get assurance that the bills will be delivered soon. Alleging some fudging of meter reading for power usage, some of locals alleged that the meter reading shows some different figures while the bills served to them show different always some 60-70 units on higher side. A local rued that on visiting the PDD office for issuance of duplicate bill, an official of PDD refused to issue the duplicate bill giving a lame excuses like they (Staff) can't issue duplicate bill without due directions from their superiors. He added, "When I asked the official of PDD sitting in PDD office Kalka Nagar Katra, he just dodged my request by shelling out lame excuses and when insisted he briefly asked me to wait till 20th of the month as the system generates usage bills only after 15th day of the month as any individual can get bill after said date while for duplicate (bill for previous months) bill could only be obtained after 20 of any month." When contacted, AEE- PDD Katra, told 'Early times' that there is no proper fixture of a day for the issuance of previous usage bills. Rejecting outrightly that any day has been fixed for issuance for duplicate bills, Sr PDD official Katra said, "One (user) can get duplicate bill issued on request but there is no mandatory day fixed like 20th day or 15th day as claimed. He however assured that he will certainly check the matter about non delivery of the bills for the last four months to some areas of Katra. |
