BJP's 6 sidelined MLAs ready to raise banner of revolt | | | ET Report JAMMU, Dec 10: Within nine months after formation of coalition Government in the State, resentment started growing among BJP MLAs because they are completely ignored and sidelined by the leadership in taking policy decisions. Credible sources in the BJP said that half a dozen party MLAs have already created their own lobby within the party and this lobby is waiting for an appropriate opportunity to take on Government to embarrass BJP Ministers who are sharing power with the PDP. Credible sources said that a coterie within the party is taking all important decisions without taking elected representatives into confidence so resentment among MLAs is genuine and real but there is no one to address their grievances. Some leaders, who are taking important decisions, are taking some power brokers and businessmen into confidence but they are deliberately ignoring elected members of the party. Credible sources said that power brokers, businessmen and contractors have virtually hijacked the BJP and they are influencing the party leadership to take decisions. Neither these power brokers nor business lobby is aware of the ground reality which an elected representative know. The sources said that last week a meeting of half a dozen MLAs was held in the house of a MLA in which it was decided that pressure would be built on the party leadership to take them into confidence while taking any decision. This group of MLAs has also decided that in case they are not taken seriously by the party leadership, they would create problem for the Government in the coming budget session of the Assembly. BJP MLAs are facing piquant situation because on the one hand party leadership is not addressing their grievances while on the other hand they are facing pressure from the voters of their respective constituencies. People are asking these MLAs to fulfil promises which their party had made with common masses during Assembly polls. BJP Ministers and senior leaders are giving more importance to the suggestions of power brokers instead of elected MLAs of the party. |
