JAMMU, Dec 10: In an attempt to bring transparency in the functioning of University of Jammu, the General Administration Department has removed 'tainted' Director CDC JU, Jai Kumar from the post of Vigilance Officer (VO). Humiliated, over GAD's order the administration of JU on Thursday had served show cause notice to Jai Kumar.
Documents available with Early Times revealed that the GAD on Wednesday replaced department VO of University of Jammu.
"In partial modification of Government order number 8-GAD (Vig) of 2015 dated 06-03-2015, sanction is hereby accorded to appointment of Imran Farooq, PRO Jammu University as Departmental Vigilance Officer in place of Jai Kumar Sharma, the then Special Secretary of Vice Chancellor, now Director, Directorate of Collage Development Council", order number GAD (Vig) 37 of 2015 read.
Meanwhile sources in JU told Early Times that in an attempt to damage control, the administration of University of Jammu on Thursday issued show cause notice to Jai Kumar and Chief Librarian University of Jammu, for medical books scam surfaced in JU in the month of July.
"A three members committee, viz. Prof Kuldeep Sharma Dean Life Sciences Faculty, Prof Naresh Kumar and Prof Kulwant Singh was constituted by JU administration, had recommendation disciplinary actions against duo. But the file of enquiry was gathering dust in VC secretariat", sources said, adding that report was tabled in the month of September, but action was not being taken by the VC till yesterday.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Director CDC Jai Kumar had purchased books worth Rs 40,000 for his doctor daughter from University exchequer, influencing Chief Librarian.
"Like previous enquiries, this one was also dying a slow death, but orders issued by GAD are good signs for victims of mal-practice in JU", they said.
