Reliance to start 500-seater Call Centre in Srinagar from April: Mufti | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 10: Reliance Communications will make its 500-seater Call Centre functional here from April next year, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said here today. This was revealed in a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister with a high-level team from Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG). This followed after Mufti had a meeting with Anil Ambani, owner of ADAG recently. The ADAG is in the summer capital to work out modalities for setting up call centres in the two capital cities of the State. Reflecting upon the available pool of Information Technology (IT) and ITES-trained human resource, the Chief Minister reiterated his focus on creating enabling environment in the State for top IT firms. To maximise opportunities of employment in the IT sector, we are committed to continuance of incentives under the States Industrial Policy, he stated. Sayeed was informed that all manpower to be employed at the Call Centres will be made through Government agencies like State Employment Exchanges and Skill Development Schemes like Udaan. The Chief Minister offered full support of the Government in operationalising the Call Centres. The proposed Call Centre at Srinagar is expected to provide employment to 1500 youth. Mufti also passed instructions for identifying a centrally-located place with scope for future expansion in the summer capital to make the Call Centres functional. To create a rich pool of human resource with diverse knowledge in IT sector that are in tune with the demands of job market, Mufti called for devising a strategy for introducing specialized courses so that youth are acquainted with soft skills like spoken English, computer literacy and data entry. During the meeting, a presentation was also made by the visiting team on key enablers like infrastructure facilities, manpower and technology to be adopted to make the call centres functional. During his visit to Mumbai last month, Anil Ambani had assured the Chief Minister on setting up of call centres in two phases in the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu, which will provide job opportunities to around 3000 youth. Mufti had also travelled to Chennai for seeking cooperation from top IT companies in investment in the State. |
