Cops loot gamblers' money; SHO, 3 PSOs attached with DPL | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 10: It is a typical case of the 'fence eating the crop' or 'a fox guarding a hen house' as a police station SHO in Reasi district and three PSOs, who were legally bound to book the gamblers, let them go after allegedly "looting the cash they had seized from them". It so happened that the SHO of a police station in Reasi, his two PSOs and one PSO of a DSP last night raided a place on the outskirts of Reasi town and apprehended some gamblers. A huge cash was also seized, according to police sources. The accused were brought to the police station where the alleged deal was struck. While the accused were permitted to go homes, the cash was "gobbled up" by the SHOs and the three PSOs, sources alleged. The deal, however, got leaked to a senior officer of Reasi district who rushed to the police station. During the on-spot inquiry conducted by him, he found the SHO and the three PSOs at guilty, sources said, adding that he forthwith ordered the attachment of all the four with DPL, Reasi. The senior officer had also ordered a probe into the incident. It would also be found out why the DSP's PSO was accompanying the raiding party, sources said. However, the senior officer later ordered nine transfers at the thana and police post levels in Reasi district to make the attachment of four cops look like a routine affair. He did so to save the police image in public, sources said.
