Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 10: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC), led by Chief Vigilance Commissioner Kuldeep Khoda and Vigilance Commissioners -- R K Jerath and Gousul Nisa Jeelani - today directed Chief Education Officer (CEO), Ramban, to appear personally before the commission on December 31, 2015. Taking a serious note of a complaint as regards the distribution of substandard/low quality meals to the students of Class 1st to 8th standard in Government Girls High School, Kumate, Ramban, by the incharge headmaster of the school. The commission observed that though the headmaster had been warned many times, he allegedly continued with his "dishonest" act of providing poor quality food to the students for his wrongful gains. The commission called for a report from the CEO in the light of allegations levelled against him. However, instead of getting the inquiry conducted by the committee already constituted for the purpose, the CEO informed the commission that the matter had been resolved amicably, which "depicts the callous and lackadaisical approach adopted by him in order to shield his juniors at the stake of health of the students", the commission observed. The SVC, taking a serious view of the prima-facie malafide procedure adopted by the CEO summoned him in person in order to elucidate his position to proceed further in the matter. (JNF) |
