Early Times Report jammu, Dec 10: Bhoorang Foundation today staged a Kashmiri play "Ram" written and directed by Makhan lal Saraf, on the fourth consecutive day of annual drama festival being organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, (JKAACL) here today The play 'Ram' revolves around social aspect of life of the widows of King 'Dashrath' after his death. It is story beyond Ramayana presented in the form of dramatic sequences pertaining to the promise of Sita being implanted and its consequences in shattering the Raghuvansh in totality. Kakai has her own reasons, faults and arguments for sending Ram to exile, Raj Kumar 'Bharta' argued as to why he was uprooted and planted in his grandfather's house, The wife of Laxman 'Urmila' has her own resentment with her husband. In a unique experiment the aforesaid play was performed without glittering costumes and make-up to make it as much as contemporary in the present context and situations. The prominent artists who inacted various characters include Shivam Bhat (Suchak) , Ranjeet Gui (Bhart) Meenal Peer (Kaushlya) Rohita Razdan (Sumitra), Rani Bhan (Urmila) Nipum V Bhat, Kannav Chopra, Sahil Kaoul (Mourners), Pankaj Handoo (Dancer) Kusam Dhar (Grandmother), Suman Pandita (Rang Pujuran), Pran Chandera (Minister- Mantri) Sumanter and Rajinder Tickoo (Raj Guru) , Bansi Matto as (Grandfather) and Makhan Lal Saraf (Dhashrath) . The lights effects were created Raj Kumar Bhat , Naresh Koul and Jai Ram Magotra while the background music was provided by Deepali Wattal. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Sudhir Mahajan Senior Drama Instructor, overall in charge of the festival. |
